gov-loc removal???

my sub is mostly a dd but will see the occasional mud hole and trail.
im about to buy a set of gears for the rear 14sf and was wondering if i should buy a new carrier to get rid of the gov-loc or if it will be fine in there?

i've heard of it blowing 10b to hell and back, but would it really blow a 14sf?

also where is the best place to buy gears?
i'm on randys ring&pinion right now and they seem a bit high in price.

also, should i go ahead and fork out the money for the master overhaul kit so or is it really that important?

Randy's is not the cheapest place to buy gears.
I usually get Yukons from PORC. They will be dropped shipped to you from RR&P but much cheaper.

I have seen a Go-Loc in a 14SF shatter, but I am not sure how common that is.

If you are swapping gears you should get the master overhaul kit. It will save you time in the long run.
 
ok. thanks a lot. would i have to change out the carrier on my 10bolt to house 4.56 yukons?
 
ok thanks alot. ill search on some other websites and compare prices. on rr&p it was close to $800 for everything both front and rear which is a little much for me
 
just checked. it seems they only have yukon ring and gears for the 14ff and not 14sf. but the 10b prices are cheap. thanks
 
I woudn't re-gear a 14bSF. That particular gov-bomb is fairly rugged (i.e. not explode), but are not even close to being as effective as a locker.

A brake job and a ratio change was enough incentive for me to upgrade to a 14bFF on my 2wd truck. Detroit is a cheap option then.

Call them, don't rely on thier website. They will get what you need.
