Gov-Lock question

Are the spider gears in a gov-lock the same as the ones in a GM open diff. I tore down my rear and found the one spider missing teath. The diff works fine except the missing teath. I need to get my truck back on the road quickly (just warmed up enough to get tare into it but suposed to get 12" of snow this weekend). If the spiders are the same I am thinking I can put get the spider gears and put them in till I can up grade the rear.

I don't know for sure but I seriously doubt it.

Why cant you find gears for your gov lock??? They are very common. There are millions of them out there. Go to any place that rebuilds drivetrain. I am sure they wil sell you a set cheap.

No they are not . I do have a 28 spline gov loc in known working order in my garage I happened upon .

Anyone going to Texas soon from AZ or vice versa ?
