I am searching around on http://www.govliquidation.com/ and just wondering how many people have bought anything off of there? I am looking for at least a running 6.2 if not a whole CUCV for a donor vehicle (that runs). Is there any guarentee or do you just bid and hope for the best? Am I better off looking somewhere else? Thanks

No guarantees and everything is as-is. Very easy to bid and buy stuff. Much like eBay but with each bid close to the ending time, they add another 15 minutes to try and get more bids. Sometimes these can drag out for seemingly forever. Gotta have a credit card to register and become a member. Paperwork is nothing.

I've bought, so far, 5 M1008's over the years. None ran and some were basket cases and one was very cherry but the 6.2 was in the bed. The most I paid for one was $700 and the least I paid was $150.

I never bought anything off of there, but I have used the site to my advantage. I live next to Tinker, and Tinker used to have a DRMD. I would find interesting stuff on the site, then go check it out. The descriptions are good enough. As long as you understand that there is a reason they're getting kicked out of military service. It could be that some unit or another had too many, but the typical reason is that it's old and something mechanically went wrong enough that it's better to just replace the whole thing.

Im still checking out stuff on there, only problem is there is hardly anything on my side of the country. It is all back east! :(

All of the DRMO's consolidated into one or two facilities about a year ago. I think only one facility, but they might be regional. I'm not too sure of the reason, but it sucks. They closed down the Tinker office.

Just found a guy in AZ on ebay selling one with 1/2 ton axles under it for $7000 :eek1:

www.SteelSoldiers.com is nothing but OD green iron enthusiasts. GL is a hot topic over there most of the time. They don't have an excellent reputation as a whole anymore since they took over from DRMO. Lots of stories of misrepresented items, incorrect pictures, bad descriptions, bureaucratic inefficiency and stupidity, and even parts theft between buying time and picking up time.
Personally I'd be really hesitant to buy a truck from GL without being able to go see it or have someone else go see it (you can do that). The military is starting to keep the good CUCV's and release the iffy/junk ones.

The CUCV pickups (M1008, M1028, M1010, M1031, etc) are all 1 tons. The Blazers are half tons.

I think most people have found Govliquidation now, so its harder to get good deals. I was looking on there a week ago, and some crappy m1009s were going for $1,500+, not to mention any m1008's! $$$$$ :(

Yea I think i will be going a different route, hopefully someone on here or locally.

Watch the for sale forums here and the classifieds over on Steel Soldiers. You can always ask around on Steel Soldiers' CUCV forum as there's usually somebody selling one or who knows of some for sale somewhere.

There's also just about any places that deals in surplus military vehicles. Boyce, Memphis, etc. Do a websearch for "CUCV sales".

Those guys usually have one or two, although they list none now.

AVOID A PLACE IN WISCONSIN CALLED ALFA HEAVEN. LYING, CHEATING, BASTARDS.

I was watching a couple auctions today on GL. The M1008 I was watching went for 1800. It jumped $1k in the last few minutes just like ebay. Damnit.
