Grandpa’s 1997 K2500

Grandpa bought this truck new in 97’
This is Grandpa’s GMC K2500 he bought new in 97’. It is the first vehicle I’ve ever driven. Some of my first memories are in this truck. I have told him if he ever wanted to sell this truck I wanted it no matter what. Well for the last 5ish years this has only been used to haul his cattle to the sale barn. 3 years he sold his remaining cattle and “retired”. The truck has seen 150 miles since September of 23’. He basically just used it to transport fuel during harvest since. Last Thursday he called me out of the blue and told me to come get it. I obviously jumped on that opportunity. It has a dead miss on cyl 7 (low compression). I drove the truck 60 miles home. It has good oil pressure and no blowby or any weird noise. I’m thinking it has a burnt or stuck/ carboned up valve. I’m going to tear into it this weekend and decide which route I’m going to take on fixing it. I have a set of gone-through heads in my parts hoard if the bottom end looks good; I’ll slap them on. If anything looks wonky I’ll probably order a short lock for it.
