Whats the best way to get the layers and layers of grease off our trucks? I pulled the steering box to weld the frame up. And its just coat after coat of grease.:doah: I used a wire brush, simple green and brake cleaner on the frame. Dont wanna get any chem in the steering box before I install it back on the frame. Recommendations??? also, I have a parts washer but no solution. Sorry, my azz is broke!!!

The oven cleaner trick does good, or find a can of Gunk at the parts house. Spray it on, let it sit, rinse it off.
I've always had good luck with it.
Been a while, hope its still the same stuff.

That is for spots.
If you are cleaning big areas, like the whole frame, go ahead and rent a steam cleaner.
Raw steam with a little soap injection will cut most any grease.

Grease stops rust just fyi .

The greasiest old chevy frames up here are the only ones in good shape because of that. One plus for old leaky chevy motors is that they keep the front part of the frame in mint condition :haha:

:haha: ya, seems like hack work to put it back this greasy. Im glad i have the big arse jug of the orange clean stuff! I used a ton of it this weekend:waytogo:

Thanks guys! Its just the box. I dont wanna put a greasy part back on the truck. :waytogo:

I know what you mean. When I put my new steering box on, it looked all nice and shiny and silver - for a week. Then it rained, and it's now all of our favorite shade of ferrous metal. I plan on painting oil onto the underside of my truck, and there's no way in hell I'm fixing the leaks I have until they get really bad.
