Pilot bushing for a 350/sm465... does the input shaft need to be greased before installing in the bushing? or should it be left alone?

Left alone, assuming its a true bushing, and not a bearing.

What we did at my old shop, if it was a brass bushing, we hold the bushing in your fingers, pour some motor oil into the bushing, and actually squeeze the oil through the bushing, it is pourous and you will see it come through.
I think those are oilite bearings, which are already impregnated with oil. But I could be mistaken. I doubt if adding more would hurt anything, just shouldn't be necessary.
I always like to wipe some white lithium grease on the ID of the bushing.
