Greasing Locking Hub

i use moderate grease, i dont pack it per say but i dont put a little either. i just dip the whole insides of the hub in grease then install.

I've always used the white lithium grease in a can. Spray the hell out of everything while it's apart and you're good to go. :waytogo:

Agreed with the packing thing.....don't do it. I've pulled hubs out and apart after rendering them inoperable and upon cleaning and lightly greasing them, they worked fine after that. Too much grease is like a tightly sealed part, it just doesn't work like it should. Lightly grease it and it will be fine.

I prefer to use marine grease as its good for the waterproof capabilities.

Light grease only. Heavy grease will lead to engagement/disengagement issues that could damage a hub. Just light grease on the moving surfaces and your good to go. I use boat trailer wheel bearing grease in mine to help repel water. I use it in my wheel bearings and spindle bearings too to keep them more protected if I am doing river crossings and stuff. Sofar so good with no water contamination.
