I finished installing my new radiator, wired the electric fans and start the blazer up. About 5 min into it idling all of a sudden I heard a loud spray. It sprayed twice. I turn it off and take off the air cleaner and the left side of the intake manifold is covered in some green slime. I can’t pin point a location of where it came from. The whole inside valve cover is covered. I started the truck u again and shut it off after about 2 minutes. I walked over and I can hear some hissing like steam coming. Didn’t get too close in case it sprayed again.

Any clues?

do you have heater hoses hooked up ? how hot did it get in 5 mins ? I am assuming this is a small block chevy gen 1

Yes, I drove the truck around a few times with new radiator. first time this has happened. Its a hard spray. the ac compressor is clean and so is everything on the left side where all the hoses run. This is all on the intake manifold and valve cover.

I’ll second the question of what the temp was

Possible the thermostat either didn’t open and or spray from somewhere around the housing or hose, which points directly at the valve cover

It wasnt that hot. Yes it was the passenger side. I just installed the radiator. The coolant is orange. I have yet to install the thermostat. I was flushing the old system.

So tonight when i got home i started the truck back up and noticed i had the heater on defrost. I had it set previously to heat on full blast while flushing the radiator.
Last time i drove it i turned it down because it got real hot.

set on defrost heat full blast caused some green fluid to spray?
