Griff's thread about nothing in particular.

The only much of anything that I can come up with is a 5.3 fits in an 97 s10 perfectly, the wiring is easy, and they look totally sweet on 37in tires.

I doubt he'll bother pulling the 5.3, also I'm fairly certain one of the lifters took a dump.

I even highly-er doubt he'd be interested in another S10. He can't stand the short bed on the 01 GMC.
Today he drove down to Nashville Ill. to look at an 03 C2500 that had an engine fire. Turned it down, Didn't tell me why.

Warning, Spiel ahead

I'm getting real tired of dealing with phucking batteries. The Blazer has had four batteries over the last two years, Had to put two sets in the Cummins already, and I've been messing with it for a month. And now my mom's 04 Trailblazer needs a battery. The silver half ton Dodge has a 6 year old Wal-Mart Whatever-start battery in it, and it's still going strong, Knock on wood. When I pulled the Cummins out of the weeds it still had a pair of Interstate Mega-trons in it that were marked as having been sold in 2002. They would still turn the over fairly well, however they looking terrible, cracked, faded, missing the little cover things, and were about 50% corrosion. Both still had 9.7 volts I took them out, bought a couple of Wal-Mart cheapo batteries, and they lasted all of 2 weeks. And they won't take them back. Now I've got a couple of Exide's, but I haven't had a chance to see if they're any good, since between taking the cheapos out and putting the Exide's in, the starter died.

I originally had a Napa battery in the Blazer, then one day it just wouldn't turn over, Took the battery to Napa, they gave me a free replacement, Than it happened again, And took it back to Napa again, and they gave me another free replacement. And guess what. That time I went and got a Wal-Mart Whatever-start and that's been fine for over a year now.

Now my mother's Trailblazer needs a battery, admittedly, She hasn't bought a new battery since she bought it about 6 years ago. I took the old one out, and I have no idea it was starting her car with 3.1 volts. And, I have no idea what it is. It has no manufacturer decals on it, just a black plastic box with a single warning label telling me not to drink the acid.

Much to my dis-approval, she bought one of the $40 Wal-Mart cheapos. We'll see how long that lasts.

You shush.

I have broken drive shaft parts to prove you wrong!

Well today I made a few discoveries, Started the blazer up, to the tune of 7 cylinders. Hmm. I pull the plugs, they all look fine, change them anyway. No change. Change the wires, no change, Change the cap and rotor, no change. I'll drop another dizzy in it tomorrow, see what happens.

Welp. Now what?
Is it bad that I already called a guy with a $400 '00 454?

no that's a move in the right direction!

Well the $400 2000 454 sold. Supposed to go look at the 73 on Sunday. Might be able to get him a bit lower too, as I already have a perfectly healthy TH400 in the Blazer.

So now that I'm planning on putting a new engine in the Blazer I figure I might as well hammer out the detail on it.

Big Block
4-5 inches of lift
8 lug nuts (Once I kill the 10 bolts)
33-35 inches of tire
Cloth seats
Factory center console
Paint it (Original Midnight Blue with white cab and top)
73-80 Front end (Maybe, If I find one)

What does the group think?

Ok, Another question. I found a used 6 in Superlift setup on CL for the cheap, Guy put it on his truck, wrecked it, now he's parting it out. It's front springs, blocks in the back, shocks, and a pitman arm.
My question is, how would the driveshafts like 6 inches of lift?

It was never unloved, I was just not wanting to re-do the entire interior.

I didn't want to commit to the Blazer, just because I knew if I put a big block in it and threw some big tires under it, I'd have to at some point deal with the interior.
I hate doing interior stuff.

On that note, how difficult is it to change from idiot lights to factory gauges? (I'd really rather not put aftermarket ones in it)

My ultimate interior "Goal" would be a full factory Silverado interior, Minus the power windows and locks.

This, But with buckets and a factory console.

Just for giggles, here's some pictures of how she sits, as of today.

Terrible paint. Notice the overspray on the blinker and bumper.

If you know anyone with a Costco membership they have the absolute best price and no question warranty on batteries. I paid 78 a battery for the two group 78 interstates I bought for my dmax.
