Bought an aftermarket grill for my 89 k5 and it showed up chrome with black on the grill, and broken. So Got a new one coming but before I thought about it I should have just ordered from a different place to get the gray color to match the head light trim. It is supposed to be a gray color. I don't like the black. Does anyone know what color grayor silver it is supposed to be? I think it is called argent but from what I can find that is a wheel color and it seems too light of a silver? You can see the headlight trim and old grill is a grey/silver. Thanks for any help.

I think you're right that there is more than one color available. Some are listed as Chrome/Black and some Chrome/Silver. It's hard to tell much about color based on pictures on the internet. You may not get a good color match unless your headlight surrounds are pretty new and the same brand. Or you could replace all 3?

There's always the option of painting all 3 :dunno:. After some repairs some years back, I painted all 3 pieces. I was sure the appearance would degrade quickly from dead bugs and road chips, but it's held up pretty well.

That's the plan. My headlight trim pieces are from the same company but bought about 5 yrs ago. They are the grey color. If I can get something close I will paint just the grill, but it isn't too much more work to paint all three to get them too match. Just need to know what color it is. What did you paint yours?

Black, actually. It was some Rustoleum rattle-can product is all I can remember. If you go to something like a body match paint, there should be dozens of silvers to choose from. On a part already painted you shouldn't even need a bonding agent.

Ended up shooting epoxy primer to seal up the rustoleum that wasn't right to begin with and auto paint won't stick to rustoleum. Went to the auto paint shop and had a spray can made of lead foot gray. Painted all 3 pieces so they matched. I think it turned out OK. Maybe a shade darker would have been better but done screwing with it for now.
