My 1983 K5 factory plastic grille keeps cracking and is now only held on in the middle on the bottom and a few places on top. I'm looking around at options and I see (a) replacement plastic, (b) bling style stuff that belongs on a low rider or show truck. Anyone know of non-cheap-plastic options that belong on a 4x4?

Mine had the billet grill in it when I bought it, not the full phantom, just bezel to bezel. I dislike chrome so I painted it black along with new headlight bezels.

That looks good. I'd have to find some different headlight bezels since mine have the plastic chrome silverado trim. I think that'll be the case no matter what I do.

mine is the same billet grille, off EBay for $99 shipped, non-painted
I took the blinker lens' off and just screwed the bulb socket to the core support, I hated dealing with those whenever I took the grille off

Fits fine, I painted the chrome headlight rings gray to match the plastic around the headlights. They will get body color matched when it's time.

I don't like the black against the chrome, but as the sun has it, the black didn't stay black long :D

There is someone on here that makes some badazz big tube grills, i think it was mainly for older trucks though. he has an OD green charlet with the grill installed.

I looked for this guy but it seemed the threads were really old. I agree, those large tube grille :waytogo:
