Grim n Depdog \"Tellico\"

I now have new 33's (Well, on Tuesday) and I got my 48" High lift jack with the bumper attachment. Im doing the pinion sela and the slip yoke seal this weekend. And Im going to get me some tow straps next weekend. What are some good lengths to get? Maybe a 10' and a 15'? OR whats a good combination? They have those long ass 30's, but do I really need one that long or owuld it be better to get 2 of different lengths so I can combined them or use a single depending on the situation?

Also got me a spare u-joint. Will pick up another. Hopefully I can get me a tranny cooler before then. Is there anything else you guys can think of that I should bring, besides my tool box?

And hopefully, I should be down in Hot -lanta in April for a test run.

30ft is not as long as it sounds when your trying to get on solid ground to drag somebody out of the mud. You can always double it and get 15ft (less rubber band effect). I also have a 20ft back up but mostly use that 30ft. Also a Clevis or 2 is never a bad idea. If you need to strap to a tree for some reason (happens more than you would think) A good Clevis will be needed. I have 8 on my truck but several different styles for different aplications. My truck is also set up for Clevis recovery points.
As for spares...I would try to find a spare axle shaft for the 12 bolt. It breaks wheel falls off and your done. I wouldn't be extremely worried about it but when one shows up for $30 grab it. Dep and I both carry a spare so we can cover you for Tellico. A 20ft choker chain is nice to have with hooks.

Allrighty then, I'll get me a 30 and see if I can come across some "10" bolt spares. Think Bigbad82k5, well, never mind that, he has 28 splice shafts. I'll keep a look out. Let me know if you come across some. You think I'll be ok without a tranny cooler if I stay on the mild to moderate trails with the 700r4? I'll make sure I change the fluid right before we go. Think I'm going to get the drain plug kit for the tranny, to hold me over till I ge tthe cooler. I have to figure out if the tranny cooler will fit. I already have a cooler of some sort up there in the front of the radiator. Haven't inspected it yet to see what it is cooling. Maybe it is a tranny cooler. We'll see.
Your going to have to cook for yourself. My wife is going to NY that weekend, so she said she'll cook camping breakfast for ya some other time. LOL!!! But my neighbor "byrdman" is coming with me I hope/ Then after we get there, I'll let him know that hes going to be my spotter. The only problem with him coming is that Im going to have to pack an "EXTRA" big cooler for all the beer. With he and I both, we wont have any room for food. LOL!!!

Ohhh yeah your truck is new compaired to Dep's and mine! Sorry we don't have a spare shaft. Your truck being as new as it is may have a tranny cooler and a oil cooler. My 95 fulls size work van does. The oil cooler is usualy on the driverside and you will see 2 hoses going to just above the oil filter. As for the cooler...I was very surprised at how hot a tranny can get in a very short period of time. I'm running a cooler made by Hayden. It's a kit made for GM trucks and has the correct hose fittings. Pep Boys sells them. It's simular to the B&M stack plate. works great!
Ok I'll cook for myself....Tostito's and Salsa LOL As for the Beer.....no no in state parks and Tellico is such....$100 fine. However I'm seriously thinking campground because they have SHOWERS! There is a campground close to the trails that some friends like. I'll get the name, prices and directions and go from there. To be quite honest nut cases flying by on 4 wheelers at 3 am kind of sucked last year

Tostitos and salsa!!! LOL!!!!! we'll be stopping every 30 minutes for you to sh*t in the woods.
Now I know there is a oil cooler on my rig and I know that the Tranny lines go to the radiator, but weathere or not my oil cooler is a combo or not I still need to investigate further.
And I like the idea of the camp grounds. Drunk asses at 3am doesn't sounds to good. But if bigbad82k5 is bringing his dads RV, I might be inviting myself in that big mug. LOL!!!!! Im sure he'll take beer as entry fee. LOL!!!!!!

Dude's Im at a delima, I need help on my tire purchase.
Should I (due to money) get 5 Pro comps off the net and have them mounted and balanced here for a grand total of $643, but wiht no road hazard. OR

Get (4) BFG's local with the whole a off-road hazard and lifetime maount and balance for $617?

Hmmm, well on the Tires go with the BFG's heard Pro Comps have very weak sidewalls, dont know for sure but thats what I have heard. If you can get the 4 with Road Hazzard, go for it. Its not uncommon to bust a sidewall and you can get an old 33" used tire for cheap for a spare. They are fairly easy to find.

Grim is right on the strap, I have a good 20', a weenie 20', a 40' and 2 crane lifting straps. Big 15' or 20' logging chain (cant remember). Clevises are a good idea to, never have enough. Make sure you have good pull points front and rear. A receiver hitch will work in the rear, you can put the strap on the hitch pin inside the hitch and it works good. Like Grim said, the beer is a no no, you will still see some inside the park though. I dont think that the noise and people are going to be any where near as bad as last year since we are going on a NON HOLIDAY weekend. ATV's, hell, I must have slept good, all I heard were the Rail Buggies and the Dirt Bikes without silencers.

Always, always, always bring Toilet Paper! Duct tape works some pretty good wonders on the trail too! A camera and film. A BIG ASS SMILE cause we gonna have fun!

Well, Glen, now that you mention it. I have some good tow points on the front, and nothing on the back. I'll see what I can come up with between now and then. Tow straps info is good, thanks on that. And if you hear of any 30 spline 10 bolts axles, for spares drop me a line. They are scarce up here in NAshville.
And what the hell is a Clevis?
P.S. On the axles, which ones woudl be the most desirable to bring? 1 rear and both fronts or what? Damn I'd hate to have to get all 4 and bring them but I will if I have to.

Lets see, I have heard them called Clevis, D ring, Shackle, and quite a few other descriptive names. Go to www.recoverygear.com and you will get a good look at some as well as all kinds on neat stuff. Their prices are a bit high though.

On the axle shafts, you only need 1 rear, both sides are the same. On the front I carry a spare long and short side, already built with ujoints and stub axles. You carry what you have and what you can find. I blew a short side when a ujoint went and took out the ears on both axle shafts. I should have it all replaced this weekend.

Well, if for some damn reason I were to have to see some dingle- berrys being ripped off all that ass hair your are so referring to I would in deed have to officailly support the name grim-reaper. Becasue I would indeed be dying.
If you have that much hair, those would have to be called "dangle-berry's" not dingle berrys.
