Okay for when I prep metal, I have some "extra thin cut off wheels" for cutting metal, then big round sanding things for sanding the paint off. I heard something about someone using grinding stones (maybe simular to a bench grinder /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif) for grinding down welds, and defects in the metal. Is this something i should pick up for my grinders? Thanks

i just use an 8" grinder disks, on a large grinder, not the little ones it'll take out just about what ever you need. If not get a carbide gauger that'll take anything off.

(note: you DO NOT need this)

I bought some flapper discs for smoothing metal, they work awesome but come in at around $5 a piece, they seem to last a while and you can get them in different grits.

there like a bunch of sand paper, layered around a wheel, so they all ' /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gifflap'

woah! Never see one of those before /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif
So no one has used something like a stone thing?

Okay, I will look at those the next time I pick up more cut-off wheels /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

Yep, get a "1/4" (thick) grinding wheel". Buy a box of them, I get 10 at a time.

I have the grinding wheels mentioned above for fitment work and 120 grit flap disks for finish work.

The flap disks are heavy duty shingled sand paper type wheels.

Okay I will get some of those too /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

flap disks wear to quick and cost too much for the "rough grinding" i just use them for finish work. i use 1/4" grinding disks for the "rough grinding"

LOL, yeah there is a few things I am getting, like cut off wheels, and now 1/4" grinding discs. But I don't have enough money for shipping and all right now... got to focus on the k5, not more tools /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

The HF cut off wheels are too thick and don't last very long. Home Depot has sales for .99 ea and they are worth it.
