I need to grind my front 8 lug calibers to fit my 15" rims. how much clearance do i need between the rim and caliber? 1/8" 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" ?? how much do you think they can expand when they get hot?

When I did mine, I just ground until the wheel didn't rub, then took a flap disk to it to smooth it out.

There is an article on this on the front page...

When I ground my calipers down I did the same thing as Jason... just ground, checked, ground, checked, etc. then after they fit I did one more pass to be safe...

It'll also depend on the back spacing of the wheel you plan on using as to how much you have to grind...

if u have the tire off the rim, ull be a lot happier, just grind, and check, be sure to snug at least 2 lugs down each time u check. cause even though u can press it on even, as i found out, it changes when u apply a little pressure from lug nuts. and i did exactly what jason did. theres probably about a 1/16" clearance on mine and i have never heard it hit. actually i think it has a tiny tiny tiny bit once in a blue moon. but not enough that it could ever affect anything.

also, make sure you grind it with new pads, if the pads are worn, when you put new pads on it, you will need to grind more.

thanks for the info Ive already ground them and can pass a coat hanger between the rim and the caliber I wasn't sure if that would be enough . but the pads are worn so i will be replacing them this weekend thank for that tip.
thank you for all the input you guys are grate.
