hey guys i have a question on a front dif. its not on a my jimmy but its a GM all the same. my 58 apache has a grinding noise when i desslerate. its sounds like its coming from the fron diff and im wondering if that means my gears are shot.

Try unlocking hubs with the t-case in 2 wheel and turn the d-shaft by hand. You should be able to feel it if the gears are bad enough to grind.

If it's when you decelerate, you might want to look into driveline angles, both front and rear. Ask me how I know.
