Grizzly Tools ? Metal bandsaws

Hey,

Anyone ever deal with Grizzly Tools? My father-in-law has purchased a few items from them and has recommeded them to me.

I'm in the market for a metal cutting saw and want to stay around $1000. I found this one which is the 7x12 with a 1hp motor.

Is one I was looking at. I was also looking at a Jet with the same range but it had a 3/4 hp motor on it for about the same price.

I have some air tools and a bench grinder from grizzly. Good company but I do not find the tools any better or worse then Craftsman or Husky.

Any issues with shipping or customer service would be the largest issue. I'm sure a major part of the components from this saw are made by the same Korean vendor and just put together by an American company and toss at us for different pricing.

never had an issue shipping and never needed anything from customer service. I think I ordered ever thing online.
Truck shipped the bench grinder/sander and it worked out fine, otherwise they UPS everything else.

We have that exact saw at work. Just rebadged. I have seen that same saw with 3 different names on it. Most recently Harbor freight this afternoon.

Good saw as long as you don't need exact true cuts. No matter how much I try to align the one at work it still cuts a little crooked. Harbor Freight wanted around 600.

I do mean the EXACT same saw. Look at Tractor Supply if you don't want the HF. version. Thiers wears the JET logo. Around 1000 for that one also.

Strange the saw made it here in one day but the coolent and spare blade are still coming.

i've been using a grizzly wood lathe, band saw and planer for the past year. good solid equipment. their wood working tools have a good reputation. i drove about 3 1/2 hours up to their store in muncy, pa when i bought the big items. the $ i saved in shipping allowed me to pay for diesel for the drive and buy the planer all the sales people in the store work(ed) in their respective area. the guy that helped me is a h.s. wood shop teacher. he spent alot of time and actually saved me a few hundred $$ by talking me out of buying a bandsaw that was bigger than what i needed. i've only dealt w/ customer service when buying smaller stuff (extra blades, chucks, etc.) and that was equally positive.

i had bought a 4x6' jet metal band saw through northern tools right before i went to grizzly (i should have waited and got it all at the same time). the box looked like ups air dropped it w/ out a parachute, literally. they broke the cast iron pivot arm and crushed the motor housing. northern tool and jet were both easy to work with and quickly shipped new parts. the saw has worked well since it was fixed. my only complaint it that when it's used vertically there is a 10"x10" "table" that you screw on to the saw. the metal used for this table is too thin and flimsy. it already cost me a blade when the table flexed as i was cutting some tube and the tube caught the blade and bent it. i'll be making a new table out of 1/4" when i get the chance.
