I have a set of 39.5 boggers that are worn but not shot. One of them is actually pretty nice still, but a couple have about a 1/4 inch of tread remaining in the center and one is a little less than that. Is it possible to groove them in the center and get some tread depth back? Is it even worth the trouble?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, everything I've ever searched just shows a bunch of results for grooving the lugs or removing lugs completely. I just want more bite like a less worn out tire.

I have grooved about another 1/4 into a set of boggers that had no tread on them in the middle at all.

Only problem I ran into is I had to drill out a plug and put another plug in cause I grooved it out :doah:

I'm assuming you used a heated type groover with a wide blade?

search ideal tire grover. lots of blade widths and square or round cut. http://www.amazon.com/Ideal-Tire-Groover/dp/B004AW7XYU and http://www.idealtiregroover.com/categories/Grooving-Blades/ and http://www.idealtiregroover.com/categories/Grooving-Heads/

i have one and cut lots of tires .

i use round cut on newer tires and square cut blade for worn get a little more life out of them as its square bottom and less chance of hitting cords .

comes with a #4 head . i got both blade shapes works good to 38x12.50 tsl . matches factory grove size.

then i got a #6 i think and same both blade shapes . works good over the 38x150 sizes for match to grove widths .
