Hello Members There is a wire that attaches to a threaded stud behind the passenger side head on my 89 K5 350. Then a grounding strap also is attached and bolts to firewall passenger side firewall. Can anyone tell me what wire from harness gets bolted to this threaded stud along with the ground wire to firewall. There’s also a bracket which holds the gas lines going to TBI. The ground wire is old. I’m looking to repair or replace any bad ground wires or ground contacts. Thanks for any assistance.

That’s just another point of ground between the block and the body. On the tbi harness, there is a set of ring terminals

Typically I like to make sure with a meter that your harness points check back to the negative on the battery with a very low resistance reading. The TBI is ground switch control, so it’s imperative that it’s 100% grounded

I like to take the harness ground wires, at the back of the passenger cyl head, and lengthen them. Then bolt them down to the intake stud at the front of the intake. This allows you to check/clean your ground connections without standing on your head! Be sure to crimp, solder, and shrink wrap all connections.

This weekend I’m going to reroute those wires. Something I should have done while I was back there.

@500$k5 sorry to bump this old thread. I am trying to locate all of the ground connections in my '89 K5. I went out and looked at my passenger cylinder head and couldn't find any connections.

JOES89K5 hasn't been around for a few years so I thought I'd ask you if you had a pic anywhere that I could reference?

I added to mine. Will not hurt. I have grounds at all 4 corners of the engine. Way overkill. Ground from battery to the block, battery to the frame. Frame to tub at the firewall and rear tub.

I had a cable clamp fail on the positive feed on the trail. Wire fell on the exhaust manifold. It did not burn any wires when it shorted out. But that battery was making a horrible whistling noise as it cooked off. Opened the hood and let it go because we could not get near it due to the spray. Took 15 minutes or so. All of the wires, except the shorted one, were OK. But it was usable and @mrk5 loaned me a battery to get home.

Well, it can hurt if you create the ground loop
