Grounding an electric winch to the frame

I'm setting up a 10,000 lb winch in the back of my truck using a receiver mount.

Every winch I have ever seen has been a direct ground to the battery.

Can I ground my winch to the frame? I don't see why not. The local parts shop guy told me I will be running too many amps to not have a direct ground back to the battery.

Any thoughts or past experience with this?
