What in a 1978 K5 would be Mechanical gauges and what would be electracal? I was looking to put some different gauges in. I would probaly still keep the stock speedo and fuel gauge and the tach i have now. But i wanted to redo the other 3 guage and put a trans temp in place of the Clock. I was looking into IssPro gauges, everyone ive talked to loves them.

they should all be electrical except for the spedometer. There are lots of write-ups on here about swapping gauges. Try and read up on it because it is not a straight forward swap.

Alrite I dont have the search feture but i will see what i can did up. I just want some different guages cause my oil pressure gauge always reads over 60 and my water temp guage stick once in a while.

Eh, donno bout '78, but '74's have mechanical oil pressure gauges ... the electric ones didn't come until later; I know by the late 80's. I'm gonna guess that a '78 would have the mechanical oil pressure gauge... check for a tiiiiny metal oil line coming off the driver's side of the block and going through the firewall by all the wires.

Speedo is mechanical too, through '89. '90+ have the electric one with DRAC or PQFP or whatever it's called.

The rest of the gauges, i.e. water temperature, fuel level, volt or ammeter, tach, etc are all electric, yes.
