Guess that broken part

Don't know the technical name but it is the end of an axle that has balls in it to replace like a universal joint in newer trucks.
If that makes sense. It's full of grease and has a rubber boot over it.

Birfield joint.

That's not a Longfield, is it? :eek1:

Changed my answer, it is the end of a longfield shaft, whatever that is

Well, that wasn't as fun as I thought.

Ok i was gonna comment on the shifter cause it's like an optical illusion and i thought it was going through the steering wheel but i can see that it isn't and it's the spinner knob i see :doah:

EDIT: if i lived any closer i'd give him the cab i got. Minimal rust ;)

Ok, gotta ask, how did he get like that? Bad line? Was he trying to avoid going over what his front DS quarter is resting on? Curious now.

He thought he could make it. he'll have to explain.
:eek1:

OK, scratching off Longfields off my list. Sticking with stock shafts.
Even with that broke, he still had 4 wheel drive, and doesn't have to buy a new one.

he's already got 2 lined up

I take it it is the drivers side?

Never seen a Longfield break like that, come to think of it I have never heard of a legitimate breakage of their 60 birfs.

Bizarre on the longfield. Also bizarre is the 'A' pillar shear/break...unless it's been poorly repaired at some time in the past I can't see how it could or should have sheared like that.

Time for a cage IMO!

This is why I no longer wheel with these guys. They tear the crap outta their rigs and think it is "fun" :screwy: :doah: :haha:

What is it...............

its a Bendix-Weiss constant velocity joint. by any manufacturer, its still a brokeass bendix CV joint. :doah:

A pillar broke @ a Very poor 10 year old weld - yes it's either time for a cage, or a tube buggy. Bobby Long said the busted Longfied was bizarre and probably cracked before I busted it in that canyon.
I have had much time to think on this "event" and have come to the conclusion that I didn't eat enough that day and my thinking (and subsequently line choice) was a little fuzzy :doah: I was attempting to drive through that V up on the right side to AVOID cab damage! The sand was soft and had water running through it and the d-side tires kept digging down. FYI the Holley Truck Avenger carb was still keeping my engine running @ that angle - I ended up shutting it off due to no oil pressure for 5+ minutes!!

I BROKE A LONGFIELD DANA 60 C.V.

Bobby's expression: "Damn..... Now I gotta make 'em Travis-proof!!"

:haha::bow:
