does any one have any idea where to get some gutted cat coverters?

You would have to do that yourself, no muffler shop would do that for you and yes it is illegal but depending on where you live you might get away with it and if you can get away with it just take the damn things off. But supposedly you are not gaining anything by it so you might as well go buy a high flow cat and call it good.

I used to be of the redneck mind set that Cats are evil and thats that. In reality, high flow cats are not very restrictive, DO lower emissions(if you think thats a nonissue you must breath different air than me) and in MANY cases actually increase power output. People don't get that stock or mild motors, need backpressure to make efficient power. Cats provide just a little bit more to a fairly unrestricted exhaust and will help out. I say go on Ebay search for whatever size pipe cat you need and buy some, I think you can get 2 for like $100.

man I'm stupid, I forgot who it was sells them on here. I've bought from you before I realized it was you. I got the high flow I put on my 95 K2500 from you. Didn't feel like searching for who it was that sells them, haha. I think my trail rig will even be getting cats or a cat.

Haha.. no problem, don't expect everyone to remember. Let me know if you need them for your trail rig and I'll hook ya up.

I was thinking about that one time, just the housing to weld over my pipe so it looked like there was a converter there. Here in California it's a $2,500 fine PER cat that is missing. Air this, air that...I guess a high flow cat is the way to go but it sure does sound a heck of a lot better without them and you DON"T make any extra power from one in an exhaust system designed for a gas engine.

I replaced my stock cat a long time ago with a new one, had it smogged, and removed the new one and swear I gained at least 15+ HP after I left the exhaust shop.

I have a near new (250 miles) hedman 3 inch hi flow performance cat
