So i have a fairly unorthodox front suspension set up on my R/V3500 conversion and I'm trying to figure out just how much lift it gained me. So here is what Im looking for help with, guys with 73-87 (91) trucks running 37" tires i would like the measurement from the ground to the upper rivet on the front shock mount and amount of lift you have. With my factory V3500 frame with no drivetrain or cab and stock springs on 235's it was 30". Now with the new sprigs, 37" MTR's and full drivetrain and cab etc it is 32-1/2". Any help on this would be great, thanks!

This may or may not help. But if you measure from the axle tube to the bottom of the frame, or to the bumpstop mount plate, it'll measure 8.75-9" on a stock truck. The 1-tons look more lifted because the axle tubes are larger in diameter. A 4" lift, theoretically, would measure about 13".

What you need for 37's is very subjective. With totally stock sheet metal and a lot of articulation, 4" may only get you safely up to 33" tires. My own sense of it is that 37's require significant fender trimming without a mega lift.
 
That's a good way to take the tire size out of the equation. I will have to measure when i get back home in a few weeks, thanks for the tip! Also flex really is not what this truck is going to be for, its a 1991 Crew cab lwb. It will see some trails but I'm not expecting a lot of front end travel. Also it doesn't have the potential for a lot of up travel (fairly flat springs) but all of this is speculation until i can get it "flexed out" to measure for shocks. Ok I have a 1986 k30.I have a 6" lift with 37" Goodyear military tires on 16.5" wheels. From the ground to the upper rivet measured 36 3/4"
 
Olivedrab - Thanks that is what I needed, looks like I got around 2"ish of lift. Just seems a lot taller then when I squeeze the 37's under it when it was a 2wd. Guys keep them coming If possible, the bigger sampling the better the results!
 
No fender trimming. The previous owner had it out muddin more than me and as far as I can tell he never rubbed the fenders nor have I. Now if I was to start going over rocks or other objects that would probably be a different story. I have a couple pics in my album and there is decent clearance.
 
I have not measured them to be sure but everything i have seen on them says they run pretty close to the 37" they claim.
