Guys with headers

On my 454 I cut a spacer out of a piece of tubing and used a longer bolt.

I usually just bend the tab on the dipstick a little and bolt it back up.

My dipstick for some reason didnt need a spacer or the tab bent. Only part of my build that wasnt an uphill battle. I would recommend some copper or dead soft aluminum gaskets, you will get tired of paper gaskets with a quickness. And I was never a fan of double stacking the paper gaskets either, it ended up being almost the same price as the aluminum gaskets, and they still would burn up. Now if I get a leak, I can just tighten them back up and no fear, always keep a 7/16in wrench in the glovebox for that reason.

Save yourself the future trouble, and replace all your exhaust joint gaskets with these when you order the header ones. I wish i had....

My dipstick is just hanging out next to the headers. Hasn't ever been bolted in.

My new headers and exhaust are driving me nuts though. I had headers before without many issues but for some reason this go around I can't keep anything tight. Lock nuts and tightening after the first few cool downs and they still work loose within 20 minutes of driving or so.

stock dipstick and a spacer. I use rtv and no gaskets at the flange.

That's what I did and it works great. My problem is at the collectors, the three bolts keep coming loose! Probably time for some stage 8's or something...

What's funny is the 3 bolts on my headers couldn't come loose with a blow torch and a sawzall

My dipstick spins freely around hookers and does whatever the hell it wants. :D

I don't mind as long as it don't leak.
