I just recently found out how cheap these things are surplus. and there is a possibility that the 12b axles ill be looking at are 8 lug, i was wondering, what tires are people running with these rims???

I love my goodyear MT/R's, but they dont come in a 16.5in rim diameter size. I like the aggressive, deep lug look, but dont want the super swamper drone on the highway, the MT/R's are actually very quiet.

The only tires ive found that fit the rims are BFGoodrich T/A KO's, which are very good tires (had them on my jeep wrangler), but dont have very aggressive tread. im looking at a 35 x 10.5-12.5 tire or somewhere thereabouts. 33 is acceptable, but a 35-37 is preferred.

and actually... will the stock military rims work on a M1009 blazer??? or would i need custom centers with custom back spacing made????

stock H1's have a 7 inch back spacing...

most wheels have 3-4.5 backspacing...

To easily run H1's on a SRW axle you'll need spacers (most run 2 inch spacer), or have someon like usa6x6 re-center the H1's, and hope you get them...

There still plenty of choices in wheels for the 16.5 Super Swamper makes plenty of their popular tires in the 16.5 size.

yeah ive heard about usa6x6, mixed reports really, it seems people either RAVE about them and think they are gods among men, or are talking about the fact that its been 2 years since they ordered their rims, or that it took 4 months to get parts etc. etc.

i guess ill do a web search and see what my other options as far as companies that will "re center" the rims are gonna be.

They will not work on a m1009 because they have an 8 on 6.5 lug pattern. There are a couple companies that do centers if you look around here is a thread on one place.

I have dealt with usa6x6 and don't recommend them, good product but not so hot service. Do a search on here there are lots of people running them including me

12b axles never came in 8lug, unless u meant to type 14b. are you planning to wheel it? if not, then beadlocks are pointless and it would save u alot of headache (and money) if you just run normal rims.

there were a couple in the classified section last I looked. I see them on craigslist every so often too

aight, i just thought it would be pretty cool, but it looks like its going to be more of a headache than i thought. I wasnt aware no 12 bolt axles had 8 lug wheels. So standard rims it is. Thanks for the input everyone.

oh the links above are to the rims i was looking at. they are the 8 bolt instead of the 12 bolt, and shipping is a kick in the pants, but 25-30 bucks per rim dosnt look to bad to me for genuine military H1 beadlocks.

to answer the wheelin question, the truck is my DD, but i do take it out any chance i get. So i would wind up using them on rocks, mud and trails. But as i said, i cant afford the D60 or 14b, so the beadlocks are out, it woulda been cool, but meh, thats why i ask you guys before spending any money :D
