h1 or h2 wheels with 42inch iroks..?

I vote for the h1s i just picked up 5 with tires for 200.00 . they are heavy but if you have no sheetmetal i think you can afford the extra weight . also they seem to be pretty tough looks like you could dropem off a cliff and theyd look up and smile at ya . plus i think the h2s look GAY :haha:

Got a pic of mine from the fab shop :thumb:

I say H1's. Cheap, and reliable and for what you can end up with, hard to beat. You'll save some weight with cut down runflats if you get the 8 bolts. I cut mine down close to the base and they (the runflats) hardly weigh much at all, they're super light. I have not got the wheels back yet, so I can't say how much the whole wheel combo will weigh.

I'd rather suffer the weight of steel, in the event I had to pound out a dented wheel. You won't even have the chance with aluminum.

are you using the stock run flats or??

is anyone using stock runflats?

Yes, I'll use the stockers when I run them. I cut mine down. I know some people feel the stock ones are a pain to bolt together. But for nothing extra, I can deal with it. It's not like I'm going to be taking them apart every day. So, they'll work fine for me.

I use the stock runflats, I haven't had any issues with them...and the price was right.

i run the stock runflats too. plasma cutter blows through magnesuim(splg) like butter. be careful though mag. is flamable & the only way to put it out is w/ a chemical class d fire extinguisher.

runflats are good bit lighter now & easy to put in.

what do you guys mean by cut the mags down??

in half or??

I have heard this a zillion times and never asked

i say h2" with the iroks. lighter, better looking. slightly less sidewall which really wont matter between the two.
trade someone the dually hubs for single rear hubs.
i think theres also more tires for that 17" and theres some bling factor there

the run flat stands off the rim by 6-8" that way when tires on the hummer get shot out they can continue on. what i did is cut them down to about 1" or just enough to still bolt them together. this way u loose wieght & don't have to worry about a tire getting pinched or torn between the run falt a rock.

my h-1's wieghed 40-45 lbs w/ run flats before cutting them down best i can remember. that is the same my old trailready 16.5's weighed.

don't know how much the rock ring added

After running the H2's for almost a year I can tell you that you will want the rock ring welded even if you go with the Stauns. I cracked one of my wheels and a good chunk came off. It was a pain to get the tire off without damaging it. I then bought a whole other set of H2 takeoffs to replace the one and have some spares.

They are a truly light wheel and I attributed a lot of the survival my D44 took to the lightweight of the wheel and tire combo I was running (37" mtrs).

Now I have 42's and some trail readys bead locks. I could have gone with some H1's, but I found the TR's off of pirate for $500 bucks and they had the perfect backspacing I was looking for. Pretty much made for Swampers. I feel a lot safer having a steel wheel even though the weight of the combo is a lot. I am sure I at leat know my wheel and tire package are strong and reliable.

Good luck on your decision!

man I am so happy I didn't have to ask that question. I didn't know what they meant buy cutting the rock ring either...... but now I definately do.

ive heard another good way to cut them down is a wood blade on a bandsaw

That's how mine are, and it takes a lot of weight off them. Not to mention, you don't have to spend 40.00 per wheel (or so) for the PVC style inserts.

My total on buying H1s, and getting the centers, recentering and rock ring install is 131.00 per wheel. Much cheaper than any beadlock I priced.

You sure about that??
$131x4=$524
-$180 centers=$344
-$200 purchase price=$144
-$120 centers= $24

Now I know the rings and recentering cost more then $24:p:
