Hi,

Anybody running double beadlocks and 39.5 Irok Radials? How did you get the rim together? I ahve mounted 38 in radials and 40" bias plys with no problem, but damn if I can get the iroks mounted...

I just read his post and one by Supersize75k5. Readymix had Bias plys, which in my mind should make no difference...Supersize75K5 had USA inserts and had to cut them down to 7"... Once I get teh bolts started I can torque them down with the airgun, but I can't even get the nuts started...I did not have this issue with the 39.5 TSL's...

What about if I take the aluminum strip off the outside of the runflat? If I take off one side, I will gain about between an 1/8 and aquarter of an inch. Granted, the runflat underneath is not as smooth, but do you really think it will tear an Irok?

Take it off and sand it flat or take it off and grind the runflat down a bit then put the strip back on. I also never had a problem with my bias plys and I doubt you will hurt the irok even if you dont grind it compltly flat.

Here is what I learned...

My 38" Radial Ground Hawgs and my 39.5 Bias TSL's both have a slight indentation on the inside of the tire. In other words, the inside disatance between the two beads increases rapidly, think of a ditch, or a groove ont eh inside of the tire, just below the opening.

The radial 39.5 Iroks, are smooth, they do not have this groove. This means that the distance between the inside beads is less and I need a thinner insert.

The stock H1 inserts are 7" wide. Dean Reeds inserts are 6 3/4" wide.

Mostly FYI for the next guy.

At the end of the day, I needed to get down to a insert width of 6 3/4" so I popped off the cap, cut off a quarter of an inch (after much debate, I used a zip wheel), got the cap back on and here we go. Although it sounds pretty easy, it was a serious PITA!
