can h1's be run w/o a beadlock insert? i ask because from what ive seen, the mags i have wont work with the irok's thicker bead. id like to mount up the tires so i can drive it, and plan to get pvc inserts sooner rather than later. so, can i run the rims w/o the mags/inserts in them?

Huh? It's just a normal 16.5" rim lip. I've personally mounted HMMWV tires (Goodyear MT) without the beadlock/runflat and never had a problem with them holding air. You do have to seat the bead with a blast of air (like any normal tire/rim).

What do you think is that different on a H1 rim?

I have mounted tires on mine without the inserts. So I know it can be done.

Also I have MAGS in mine with 39.5" IROKS mounted. The bead is a little thicker but they went together just fine.

i seated some by using a ratchet strap and that worked fine, with out the strap it is almost imposible to seat the beads

from what i understand, the 42" iroks bead is even thicker, and if using mags, they need to be cut down and narrowed:mad:. for now id rather just mount them up so i can get them on the truck and worry about the beadlock aspect later

Did you try it? What have you got to lose?

i was just trying to see if people have successfully done it, or if i would just be wasting hours of time. ill give it a shot this weekend

It should work. ALL 16.5" wheels, with the exception of stock Ford ones with the safety bead, are a pain to get seated properly. Big ratchet straps help deflect the beads towards the rim. The tool listed earlier also works, it's how I got my 44's seated on the 12x16.5 wheels I used to run. Place an order with USA6x6 ( I know guys, I know....) now so when you finally get the inserts you'll have your rig done. It may be a couple months before you get them but you'll get them eventually... they are worth the wait.

I think I read on Pirate that someone made their own beadlocks using PVC (?) culvert. He had a diameter problem but it was solved by heating and bending the PVC to the desired radius.

If you search over there I'm sure you'll find it. Could save you some dough, plus not have to deal with 6x6

Problem with buying the pvc to do it is you have to buy a section $800-1200. Then you wind up cutting the insert's down , and sell them to make your cash back. I had a ton of H1's I sold and looked at this. But for me I deemed it to much work.
