anyone used an h2 axle in the rear of a k5? i can't remember what they stuck back there? 12 bolt? i saw a wrecked h2 for sale on the way home from work the other day and i was just trying to think of what i could use on my k5. don't worry, i'm not planning a "bling" transplant. :haha:

12 bolts haven't been produced in almost 30 years.

I bet it has the 9.5" semi floating 14 bolt, and it uses a link suspension. Don't bother grabbing it, too much work to get it under your truck.

its a 14 blt semi float, i woudl grabe it. Its not to hart do put spring perches on it and it will have an electric locker in it which is a realy nice feature and usually costs a lot of money

:o

i guess i've just been around old trucks too long and haven't been paying attention to what's under the new ones. d'oh!

i knew about the e-locker, which is part of what made it tempting. and a 14bsf isn't half bad. i think i'll stop by tomorrow if it's still there and see if the axle is ok. if nothing else, i might make a few buck off of it.

It might be worth it to grab the wheels if they are in good condition. Those are getting pretty popular

i took a look during lunch time today and the guy was about to haul what was left to the scrapyard. he had already sold the engine for $4000 and the axle for $1200. when he told me that, i couldn't help but laugh. no way i would have paid for a 14bsf :haha:. i think he found a sucker for that engine too, but not by as much, proportionally speaking.
