Detroit... well almost
I got a great deal on these h2 wheels online. I wanted to put center caps on and had read that the plastic chrome plated 800 series caps fit h2 wheels ok.

FYI, they don't fit the special edition wheels properly and require substantial trimming (I used a dremmel and side cutting drill bit). After trimming and sealing the edges it looks good!

Did you change out wheel studs to metric or were yiu able to find SAE lugnuts with the external treads?

Stayed with 9/16th studs. Searching "dual thread lug nuts" on eBay got me what I needed (9/16th" w/ external thread). Also put on a wheel lock u can see in the pictures.

Sweet, I didn't know they made those and thought the only option was to change studs. BTW, I like the black hub.

Thanks guys. There's a painted version of the 800series center caps that originally came on painted steel truck wheels that might fit these h2special edition wheels better - not sure.

I don't like cutting up chrome plated plastic because it tends to peel... We'll see how it lasts.

I wonder if your caps were from steel wheels. I made that same mistake. Turns out there are different caps for steel or alloy wheels. The caps for steel wheels are wider and need to be trimmed to fit inside the H2 wheels. The caps for alloy wheels are narrow enough to fit inside the H2 wheels without trimming. Not sure if it works the same for the special ed wheels you have there.

How bout some full view pics so we can see what they look like on the truck. :waytogo:

Boulder Wheels

Thoe are Boulder Wheels. They were an option on certain H2's and very pricey when purchased from the dealer. I write an article about them and my Nitto's for 8 Lug HD Truck Magazine. It can be seen here:

They are great wheels. The mfg made matching centercaps for both Semi and Full floating rears, but the domed ones called "Outties" are as rare as a Jackalope. I've been looking for a set for years and can't find any.
