First, can someone tell me what to search for for an H4 conversion for my '83 with quad headlights? What size or whatever?

Second, I assume someone has rigged their headlights up so that all four come on with the high beams. Any suggestions? I could see working it at the headlights with dual relays and maybe some diodes or something, or maybe just at the foot switch so that the input to the switch goes to the low beam out and the output goes to the highs... The second option sounds easier.

the LMC relay harness is probably the best thing they sell for our trucks. Easy and works

A lot of the housings that use the H4 bulb kinda suck, unless you pay good money for a Hella or equivalent. I bought a cheapy from EBay but am only using it with HID bulbs for offroad only. Do the relay harness and see if you are happy with that. I just run Silverstarts.

Here's my thread:

well the size is 6x4 for the headlight housings...

I read somewhere that the Euro specd have a sharper cutoff than DOT.

you could probably just buy those pieces instead of a "KIT"

I know nothing about the quad headlight mod.. Just simply searched :)

Cool, I never would have guessed that Painless would have something for that already. I think I'll rig up my own wiring though, to get a lower resistance path to the headlights. I did an H4 conversion with relays on my Scout and the difference was amazing.

you had a scout? ahhhhh.. I used to have an ole 73 IH 1210 Longbed 4x4. had the 345 v8 and a t18 trans :P sold it and went back chevy!!
then sold the chevy and got a k5

Are these considered 165mm headlights? I'm searching for Hella 4x6 or even 165mm and not coming up with much. Anyone have a link or part #?

I was searching on H4, that was my problem. Thanks for the help. I had to look up the difference. H4 has low and high in one. It would be kind of cool to have both of them be low or high together...

the EBay link....is that for an '85 also? They are still quadbeam, just wondering if knows for sure the 165mm will work.

Also, is there any reviews on this lens? Or pictures with them lit? I wouldn't mind trying something other than what I bought.

honestly, I cant say for sure...

The info on the page says 2 BRAND NEW 165mm (6 1/2" x 4")

your headlights are 6 1/2 x4" no ?

Pretty sure 165mm is right. That's what LMC lists for the quad beam K5s.

I actually just did an H4 conversion on my truck and i love it. Let me tell you it is bright as hell. i use the ebay 165mm housings all four of them were shipped for 86 bucks. I used sylania silverstars, 75 bucks for four bulbs. i used the stock headlight harness to power the relays. A 6 guage cable comming straight from the battery to a 50 amp self resettable breaker and from there to a autozone fuse block. As far as the quad high beams i just used the female spade connecter that also has a male connecter on it so one relay powers both bulbs on one side when the on beams are on. and one relay will power the low beam on on side. 4 relays total. about 25 bucks for the 4. I need to pay for my membership already so i can post some pics of it lighting up the night!

get some pictures up :) You can link some from PhotoBucket or where ever before you get your membership.

dont get LMC's un less you want to over spend..
i bought mine from the same ebay guy and yes its 165mm, they have been working good for some time now.

K85,

I have those headlights (bought them from the same ebay seller) on my 85 Blazer and they fit fine. They have glass lenses with a metal body and they have a rubber seal at the base. The LMC version does not have the rubber seal. FYI, the upper and lower "euro" headlights that LMC sells are identical including the low beam bulb.

I originally bought the ebay ones as low beams because of the cutoff pattern * and the LMC for use as high beams. I like the light pattern better then the LMC version and now use them for both.

Unfortunately, my Blazer is currently inop or I would have provided a picture with them lit for you.:frown1:

* The pattern on the ebay version does not have a really crisp cutoff like you find on for example a set of smileys on a BMW. However, they have a much more usable pattern then the LMC which seem unfocused.
