I'm pretty sure that I want to do my suburban like like this. But with front fenders and doors.

If I did on the back I would do a half wall out of sheetmetal, and have a convertible top window made for the rest so I could snap it on and off.

The overhang of the suburban is way too long.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to start. It may be 3 months down the road after this semester is over

Didn't you recently mention not wanting to hack into it for shock hoops?

I personally don't like seeing a nice solid burb get cut up, but I'm more of a resto guy that lives in the rust belt.

Yeah I was thinking I wanted to keep it so I could sleep in the back if I wanted.

But I thought about it for awhile and I'm pretty sure I'll never do that.

The overhang in the back is huge.

I would do a nice job on it also. I want to plate the corners like ORd did on willard's doors. Narrowing the front end like willard's is also on the list

I'm going to drive it as is for a few months right now

I think my dad is going to powdercoat it and put it on his truck, I'll let you know if he changes his mind though.

Heres a burb with the top cut off that I found on ebay

I did a little paintchopping to make into what I want to do. This really makes me want to do it now.

I think I like the angled piece in the back. I think I'll make one similar to a stock avalanche one out of dimpled steel.

that'd look awesome and original you should go for it and post pics! that photochop looks cool

I chopped mine, but never shortened it. It had too much floor cancer so I just swapped the crew cab onto it's frame.

I want to build a burb just like this as a pre runner. This thing looks BAD ASS!

This thing looks bad ass as a rock crawler too.

I would say it would be easier swapping a Crew cab on to the frame. Then doing all the sheetmetal work.

I have thought about this long and hard, I have a burb but it got pushed aside for other stuff.

I was thinking of finding a pickup bed and cutting the back of it off so you would have a tailgate like a normal pickup, I don't know how blending the floor would go but I doubt it would be too hard.

Anyway thats my thought on it I hope you do it shortened burbs are cool

Would not be hard at all. It's just sheet metal fab, It's not rocket science. :D :haha:

I'm not going to want a permanent back though. If I swapped on a crew cab body I would just tube the back out like willard.

But if I'm going to that much tube I'd rather just build a buggy and keep this trucks body a straight as possible.

I was thinking about the tail gate but I think half barn doors would be nicer. Although the tailgate would make a nice bench.

I'm hoping it will be a nice change, cut metal easily with electric shears. And I'll just use the stich weld feature on my welder. I also have access to a 12ft brake, and also a few bead rollers

I'll just make a lip on the top like this for the piece to snap on to

Snaps kinda like on the bottom of this top

howdiy,

Do you still have the ebay link for the rig in post 5?

Looks good

What do you guys plan on doing with the gas tank?

Under the tool box? stock tank?

I just used a sawsall on mine, simple and effective
burb

What did you do with the gas tank?

It looks like the roof leaves a pretty nice edge to weld sheet metal to after I cut it
