i think i found it in the front drive shaft. there is about a 1/4 inch play in the front shaft where the shaft slides back and forth (dont know what its called)
i was going to pull it and go get a new one but dont know if it will hurt it.

will it hurt to pull the front shaft and drive it with the shaft out?
how much should i expect to pay for a new one?

it wont hurt anything. just pull it. for a front driveshaft we pay about 350 in Georgia at Holders Driveshafts

Thanks I'm in the process of yanking it now, hope its just the small half of thr front shaft not the hole thing

Are you driving with your hubs locked in or running full time 4wd?
If your hubs were unlocked and you were in 2wd it shouldn't turn at all.
They in fact you do have lock out hubs, unlock them or you will have bigger problems than u-joints.

While you are down there be sure to grease every grease zerk you can find.

Ya I'm trying to see what the vibration was cause the hubs were unlocked and the case in 2 wheel drive so I. Am going to check the rear shaft tomorrow, and jack up the front to check the one up front where the axles are

While you have the front off the ground, be sure to check the wheel bearings and the ball joints for play. Rock the top of the tire side to side, if it moves, something needs attention.

If the vibration is related to your travel speed it's likely a u-joint but it's still good to check all that stuff while you already have it jacked up.

Think I may have found the problem the tire are out of ballance the weights are gone off the rears

I hear that, one of my 37's are way out of balance and wobbles like crazy at around 45mph. The local tire shop couldn't balance it (too big for their machine) so I was going to try some balancing beads but the rear diff blew so I'm switching to 8 lug axles and can't run 15" wheels so who ever buys them can deal with it.

I just want to know why it keeps throwing them ,9 times last year I had to rebalance

Try the balancing beads. You can't throw those, because they go inside the tire.

Never heard of tha are they expensive?

Depends on where you buy them. Check any tire shop that sells tires for big rigs (like Peterbilt) they should have them. If not you can get them on eBay for around $1 per oz roughly. Your tire size will determine how much you need.
I think 4oz will do a standard tire, and let's say 37's would take up to 8oz.

Shop around some will give you free filtered valve stems with your purchase. That way they don't of flying out if you take out the center of the stem to let the air out.

thanks ill check around, there is a 4x4 acc. place around the corner ill try there to

Good luck, I've never ran them myself to give you an honest review. I just know they are out there. You might hear them rolling around when you stop, I just don't know.

well thats the next thread on who has used them on a dd

It won't hurt to use them on a daily driver. You just might hear them rolling around is all. Other than that they won't hurt your tires or anything.

If you have a truck that's not super quiet I doubt you'd hear them at all.
If you do and it bothers you, get Flowmasters. Problem solved.
