Dangerous I know but maybe there's help out there even so.

This is about my blue off road blazer.
Quarters are thrashed and the pass. side door jamb got twisted pretty good on the last run out.
Putting the hard top on this year was a huge event, nothing is even close to where it should be any more. :doah:

All that being the case, it's damn close to qualifying for 'truggy' status and I got to thinking about doing something maybe a little different trying to keep it looking like a chevy.

What about using a swb step-side bed?
I figure I could remove the fenders for trail runs and replace em in order to stay legal.

Would it look strange? Or decent?

Help me out boy's. :thinking:

The step side bed sides an interesting thought. But, I'm having trouble picturing it. Anybody have enough photoshop skills to mock one up of VT's trucK?
 
I can't visualize it well either. What I'm seeing in my mind isn't good so I would be interested in seeing it photoshopped. One thing I really dig about your K5 is you wheel it hard but it's still a K5. I can appreciate the truggy's and other extreme creations, but none of them compare to a K5's lines, IMO.
 
There was a blazer with step-side fenders stuck on it so they could run duelies listed on CL a while back. Personally, I thought it looked like a$$. I've also seen PU cab with a shortened step bed on a Blazer frame not too long ago. I looked pretty bad too because the fenders were right up against the back of the cab.

I don't care much for the stepside look either.
Why not use some skins from a fleetside bed and Dzus them to an inner framework. You could easily remove them when doing nasty trails. Please don't ruin the K5 look, going truggy is ok as long as it somewhat resembles what you started with, IMO. I know I'm a little hard core with how the first gens look, so take it for what it's worth.

I have to agree. With the bedsides and your halftop on, it looks like a pickup, not a K5 anymore.

Bed moved forward to jambs.
Looks better but I still don't see it an an option.
Would look alot better painted though.

I second that....don't truggy it just keep wheelin bro :waytogo:
 
I run a step side on my truck, but i shortened the box. If I wanted to I could of easily shortened the fenders and made them easily removable.

This is a horrible picture of the box, but I have a stock short box wheel base, and I took 16 inches out of the box
