HAD driveline tc emergency brake good?

I looked long and hard at one of those when I did my drivelines. I have HAD front and rear shafts. The only drawback I could find was that you lose a few inches of length off of the shaft since the E-brake takes about 3-4 inches of space. This means that you usually have to have your shaft shortened in order to keep your slip in the middle of the travel. Also, you increase the angle of your shaft which means you may have to adjust your pinion angle to compensate for the shaft angle to keep it within spec. Since I had already done my shafts, I didn't feel like changing my angle and shortening my shaft. I just went with the TSM rear calipers and cables from a company called Control Cables. I made the cables too long though and they don't apply enough pressure on the pads to hold the truck much so I need to address that.

You are all wrong on that description. It adds no length to the shaft. The rotor sits behind the tcase flange.

Here is a pic of mine for reference.

As for how good it works, who know. I have yet to hook it up but its on the to do list.

Well ****, that is what I was told, which is why I did not go with it. It would have been much easier than the rear disk brakes. Are you saying the disk bolts right up to the back of the output flange without having to use a longer output flange? Is the custom flange from HAD longer than the stock one? That is what I was led to believe. When I look at the pics on the HAD site of a regular 1350 flange on the rear of the NP205, it is pretty close to the case. When I looked at pics of the driveline brake with the custom flange, it looks to be about 2-3 inches out from the case.

Here is a pic of the regular flange and driveshaft without the e-brake:

It looks like it sticks out 2"-3" farther to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

he use to offer 2 flanges. he now just sells 1 for ether way. but that was back in the day.

and only problem i see on the pics posted is red paint all over the brake surface. not going to work good. better clean it all off first .

Are you saying the e-brake flange is just a stock flange drilled to accomodate the disk? If I could get away with simply swapping my flange and adding the driveline e-brake to my existing setup without any other mods, I would consider it. I think even when I get my cables the proper length, the holding power isn't going to be all that great. I think I would fab up a hand pull brake somewhere and leave the stock setup to have two e-brakes.

yep i am going 1350 c/v units and 1410 at the axles.

i think this is how you tell old from new style.

and the rotor goes on. then bolt yoke on. then bolt threw rotor/flange/driveshaft and tight to spec.

Ah, so the old ones had a separate bolt for the rotor but the new ones have it all together. I'll have to call Jesse and ask about the new flanges. If they don't stick out farther and I don't have to change my angles or my driveline length, I just may have to add one of these to my existing setup. You can't have too much e-brake.
