Half door half done...

Thanks. I just used the factory bushing style so I can repalce them easy if need be. These doors are so light I bet they will never wear out hardly anyways. I built a 3/4" sq tube frame in the half doors to weld the plates for the cut into. Worked really good and is very stought.

if it was me i would keep the no draft windows and follow the line down to the body line to keep the mirrrors to. i think that would be cool, looks and practical /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

lokks cool man. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gifi wish i would have saved my old doors,so i could practice on them. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

I've been watching this thread and am in the process of building my doors. I'll post pics when I'm done but I have a few ?s.

Those of you who kept the factory hinges and used original style bushings, where did you find new bushings? I bought a set of half of the hinges that bolt to the door from a member here but they didn't come with pins or busings.
I'd like to keep the factory bushings so I can swap between the 2 with a minimum amount of work to the doors.

Also, I've seen lots of pics of the doors from the outside but none of the inside of the doors.
What have you done for door panels? Post your pics of the interior part of the door.
I was thinking about diamond plate but am still unsure.

I got my pins/ nushings at Napa and Carquest like $8 a set.

you guys seem to be cutting the openings down way below the seat... am i right?

Depends on whether you want to open them when you get in and out. I'm hoping that I can leave the half-doors on all the time and just clamber 'round them.

When I do a new set for my truck it will be little more than a lip to keep stuff from falling out and to make the edges have a more finished look. The GM trucks were not designed to run with no doors, looks like a$$ IMO.

mine are close to lovel so you can kinda slide off the seat and sit on the half door part
