I did a bit of searching and everything is about the difference in 3/4 and 1 ton crew cabs. I found a 1979 crew cab K30 that has an inline 6 and 6 bolt half tons. I asked the guy if the 60 and 14 were robbed and axles replaced. he said it is a military spec and he has the service records since new. He is about a 5 hour drive from me and I would like to have a better idea of what the truck is when I get there.

Anyone have an idea about this option? It also has the automatic transmission.

99% sure they NEVER built a crew cab with 6 lug axles from the factory. He is full of crap.

tell him to scan and send you a copy of the build sheet in the glovebox, and the records to document this anomaly.

Its an air force truck. I have seen a few of them here and there. It will have a 44/12b combo.

He told me that the majority of the trucks life was on an airport. Thank You. I will try to get more info.

Is there anything else that is different with them that you know of?

i only saw one in person and for some reason i didnt think to look to see what frame it was on. i also dont remember it having "30" badges on it either.
it was definitly a custom deluxe, 292/sm465. i think he said 4.10 gears too. if i see one again i will pay better attention for sure.

X2....

I know they made a C20 in a crew cab, have looked over a few in person, parking lots up north, and a few in salvage yards over the years, they were all in the 73 to 80 range. as for a 12 bolts I think the last year for a 12 bolt in a 4x4 was around 81, also a inline 6 could be a 292 that they put in trucks up to a C60, and I have seen really weird stuff in the military, and airport trucks! It would be cool to know more, or see pic's of the truck.
