Whats a good scanner to buy? A buddy and I are looking into splitting the cost on one so we don't have to pay a shop to scan our vehicles. We don't want a cheap quality one but we also don't want to pay for names like Snap-On either. I'm checking eBay but feel thats a little risky.

What say you?

I have an Auto X Ray scanner that has served me well for almost 10 years. It does both OBD 1 and OBD 2 vehicles. I can keep it updated over the internet.
If you get a scanner make sure you get one that gives real time operating data. You need it to check for proper sensor operation ect.
Ebay is really not that bad of a place to get one.
Even at the BIN price this is an excelent deal.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Auto...021QQitemZ310036853429QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Bump...

My buddy mentioned a smaller scanner for specific years and models of vehicles. I'm looking for a scanner for '87 to '91 specificly our rigs. If they go up to a newer year, great, but what kind is he talking about? Said they cost around like $40 new.
