hand throttle write up

Very nice write up. Thanks for posting it. My former boss did something similar with his 68 CJ when he wheeled it back in the 70's
as I recall he also used a lawn mower throttle cable mounted to the gear shift as well for his set up.

Looks great. Can I make a suggestion? You might want to use the cruise control chain off a mid 80's GM at the end of the cable where it connects to the throttle body to reduce the chance of binding. That is an awesome set up you made.

Pretty sweet. From the pics I guess you hold the shift rod itself and press with your thumb?

Anyone use a hurst style gripshift knob and have the throttle setup like a quad?

Nice writeup. A buddy of mine did the same thing with his Just Empty Every Pocket but he used a handlebar shifter from a mountain bike that has the little lockdown thumb screw on the top so he can have it either momentary(holding set idle when finger is on it then moving back to regular idle when let go) or when he tightens the thumb screw down it will hold the steady engine speed until the thumb screw is let loose if that makes any sense.

I just ran my cable through the shifter boot instead of drilling a hole in the flirewall. I also used the bike shifter with the adjustable tension D-ring. I love it. Probably my favorite cheap mod. Makes downshifting without the clutch while braking very easy.

I had to read that and the original article six times 'fore I saw "firewall" :haha:

I mean, drilling a hole in the flywheel would suck...

Haha, I received a phone call when I was writing that, and was kind of distracted. I normally proofread, but that one got by me. Yes, I meant "firewall".
