OK,

I got two caribou up in Quebec over 3 years ago.
I got the hides tanned, but they've just been sitting since then.

I'd like to hang them on the wall, but I've got no clue how to do it?
I was thinking about just nailing them up, but will the nails pull out of the hide?

Should I stretch it on some sort of frame and hang the frame...?

No clue here guys. Any thoughts/suggestions are VERY welcome!

Thanks,

-Ben

And because I know the question is coming... it was no monster.
But here it is:

mofugly would know I have not been on much lately but pm him and he could at least point you in the right direction.

Nails would be just fine, but you'll need a bunch of them. Probably be cool to mount it to a board or lace it into a frame, first. Then you won't be putting so many holes in your wall. Yeah, lacing it into a frame sounds cooNice Caribou. All I ever get to shoot are little deer.

I've got a Mtn. Lion hide on the wall, I'll get you some pics of the method of hanging on Thursday when I get back home. It's actually several 1" brass rings sewn to the hide, then hung on either nails or screws.

I really don't want to put a ton of holes in the wall! :D

Maybe I can get this brass ring thing to work. If you get some pics Jimbo, I'd appreciate it.

otherwise I'll have to start thinking about a board or a frame plan....

I forgot to mention the hide is attached to a felt backing, and the rings are sewn to the felt. There are only 5 rings on this hide, so maybe you can live with that.
Hope this helps.

That's kind of cool.

My hides are not mounted to anything yet.

Maybe I'll have to see a taxidermist to find out about getting them mounted on felt.....

Thanks guys,
