looks like the spiders are welded to the case. Ive always been told its a bad idea cause they are made of different materials and it doesnt make for a good weld.

The spiders are sintered metal. Metal powder, a mold, heat, WHAM and pressure. Voilà! Gear.

Yes it is welded. I choose this style because the size of the axle and spider gears. I have seen other lincoln lockers fail when just the gears are welded. I have been locked this way for the last 10 or so trips. And as Rob said the welds didn't break. Just another way to skin a cat.
