These guys get good reviews and would get pretty close, but yeah, it's not cheap.

I've got the little Harbor Freight one and it does ok. It's a lot better than using a grinder to make my cuts and mine was pretty nice out of the box. There's a Yahoo group on 4x6 bandsaws that has a lot of instructions on setup and common issues.

I've got to build a new base for it to make it more mobile and stable.

depending on what your cutting, you might look into a portable band saw and a SWAG Offroad upright base to hold it.

Bandsaw Any day over a chop saw guaranteed a better tool. A chop saw has it's place but not against a band saw.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, be nice to find one of those older Doall horizontal bandsaws for cheap
