Hard shifting 203

I'm having a serious problem shifting my np203. It was recently rebuilt and it has a part time conversion kit. I took apart the shift box tonight and cleaned it real good.

Anybody have any suggestions on what makes these things shift hard?

I had one that shifted real hard and the problem was the shift box. Sometimes they become "out of adjustment".

It has been awhile since I took one apart, but that box(has shifter handle on top and 2 rods that attach to the tcase coming out) you took apart is generally the reason. The edges get worn and that detent or whatever you want to call it does not move over them like it is supposed to. If you can take a pic. I can show you where to grind to amke it work again
