Does anybody know if I take the black paint off my top and leave the white fiberglass underneath alone if that is alright? Do I need to seal the top with something or repaint it?
You'll prolly need to seal it with something. Paint, etc... Fiberglass are strands put together (and I'm sure someone will have a more detailed discription) and it uses paint to seal it. I had to replace a fender on my dually and it came gel coated, but I still had to paint it cause the gel coat is not hard.
<font color=green> Whenever i bought my 82 the top had been sanded down and was unpainted. Whenever it rained, I had white streaks all down the tailgate and sides where the fiberglass got wet
I really dont know why it done this, but I had it painted and it stopped.
