This got hung up and damaged when I pulled my engine. Can it be replaced with a soft line??? Tranny is a TH400.

You can use copper line with rubber connections on both ends, can take the heat around the engine, and the rubber will prevent the electrolysis.

You need to use a rigid material that won't collapse under vacuum. Nylon air brake hose is a good, inexpensive choice that comes to mind. Just be careful when routing it around hot parts like the exhaust.

I am guessing you didn't mean that my copper suggestion was not rigid material:D
As for the rubber couplings at the end being 1/4" of gap between the copper and metal will not be a problem for collapsing.
