Yah, not hard per say. But time consuming as h3ll lol.

And I was using flux core and I didn't have my auto shade when I did it last soooo I may be biased lol

I've found odd shaped items like that get good coverage results when taking a 4 angle approach....

Start at one position, and divide a circle into 4 equal parts, then shoot a light coat from all 4 positions. A two sided object at that, would require an additional couple positions from the opposite side.

Try painting diagnoally. Meanibg instead of side to side, top to bottom, go from top left corner, to bottom right. Follow the diagonal direction of the metal.

When I made a headache rack for my truck out of pipe and expanded metal,I used a thick nap roller and black rustoleum to paint it,then I sprayed any spots the roller missed with a rattle can..still sucked!..and yeah,it does waste a lot of paint!..

I used my ARC welder to tack weld the mesh to the pipes too,took a good hour to tack all of the nibs to the pipes..a mig would have been nicer for that job!..
