harmonic balancer

My harmonic balancer need to be replaced, that sucks. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif So my question is, how do I know if I need to replace my crank shaft? Also what should I know when I go to replace the balancer? Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

I don't know about the diesel, but I know Chevy needs a special tool to install the new one. If you try to pull it on th ecrank withthe bolt, it is VERY easy to strip out the end of the crank. I borrowed the right tool from a local machine shop. They were cool with it, especially since the did my emgine machining.
