I picked this up from a Guy near me. Got it cheap.
It is fiber glass and has all the hinge mounting nuts in it.
also has latch mounting in the front and has fiber glass cross members on the under side. Its pretty solid . Hood pin holes were there when i got it.
I have seen it on the rc car "tamiya blazing blazer" and In a book I have about wheeling in the 70's Looks like it may be early baja but im not sure.
Just wondering what it might be off of ?
Any help would be great.

I saw a hood like that in a book I picked up a few years back. It just said that it was made for better sight on the trail or going down dirt roads. Wish I could find the article and picture I had in that book, shows the degree of the hood and the difference in sight compared to a stock one.

Cool find! Wanna sell it. :D j/k

I have that book, it is like "offroading basics" or something like that. It was actually real strait foward and informative when I was just learning.

As for the hood, I like them (and would run one if I wasn't narrowed) but have only seen a few around here. Good find :waytogo:

This Is the book I have that shows, it And the picture from the book.
Its copy write date is 1975. My blazer was just born.
From what i can tell my hood is different than the one us body makes because it has that short cowl in the center near the back.

I had an opportunity to wheel with a guy that had this hood on his truck, the increased visibility was incredible. I was amazed at how much better this minor modification improved the overall visibility.

Thanks A bunch for all the info I figured it was out of the 70's.
Not to brag but I only gave 100 bucks for it and it dose work wonders for visability.
Now As for the RC Blazer

It is made by a Japan based company called Tamiya
They only made the Blazing Blazer Version for about two year like from 82-84
There are three other versions but the blazing blazer has lockable front hubs.
As you can see it has front and rear axels drive shafts to each rear, leaf sprung, 3 speed tranny to t-case (4wd low, 2wd hi, and 4wd hi) and the electric motor sits in the front. Its about as real as it gets for an rc truck.

Now on ebay you cant touch a used body with out grill, roof-wing, and driver
for under 500 bucks. Complete rolling chassis no electronics(controller or batterys) run any where from 700 buck to 2,000.

Thats for the blazing blazer and Hilux(which is a stepside toyota)

The other versions are Mountaineer and bruiser. They sit taller and have bigger tires and both have toyota bodies. They are cheaper but the price is steadly climbing by the years.

If you want to see pics of the drivetrain let me know ill pull some and show you I have a tamiya bruiser.

Thanks again for the info on the hood though Im glad someone reconised it
any idea how many might be still around??

ive seen these before you can get them from usbodysource a fiberglass company i hav a cowl hood from them and ive seen that hood on there web site

I ran into a guy that had one on a 73' blazer prerunner, it had an autofab bussiness card glassed right into the underside of the hood, they are bitchen hoods.

hey, i just bought new 35 mud terrains at your store. Cool blazer. Maybe mine could look like yours someday.

ON the Hood thing. Auto Fab in Cali sold or still sells those hoods for the older prerunners and have always loved the look.

Hannemans Fiberglass here in Cali (Sp?) sells them also. A buddy of mine got one a while back.
They call it a drop center hood.
