Put a 59 3200 apache body on a K5 frame?? just bought a 59 apache truck and I want to make it 4X4, with D60 axles and since I work for a CAT dealership, i have been thinking about squeezing a C6.6 cat engine in it. This is my first shot at restoring and building a custom 4x4 so any advice would be greatly appreciated. prob just go gas to start off with so finding an engine frame and suspension would be my start

The frames are different, the K5 is wider than the apache. It can be done but it would look off. Wouldn't be a show truck but could be cool. There was a company back then that would make these trucks into a 4x4. NAMCO I think was there name. They would add an extra x member to the frame a diff and a frontend. Cut a extra hole in the floor board for the shifter. My uncle had one. Bought it from a logging co. I belive they used jeep parts.

If your apache has the fleetsides to it, those are pretty rare. You could probably sell those sides and pay for the whole conversion. I have built a lot of hot rods and have only seen two fleetsides.

they were napcos, i has one :D

I would just adapt the newer axles to the current frame rather than go the other way. just my opinion. I have pictures of my stock napcos drivetrain, but i think your gonna go with a married t case rather than a divorced like it had.

User name 58 apache, as the user name suggests, 58 apache on a 4x4 frame on 37s, saw it in person it was badass
