Looking to remove the engine TBI wiring. I been working on cleaning up the engine bay for the new engine. I am going to put in a FiTech Tbi and I want to remove the old wire for the Tbi. I been in to where the ecm is looks like all the wire are wound up. I know painless wire makes a set up to remove the Tbi that’s $800. Has anyone done this?

It comes out as pretty much a stand alone harness.. I took the one out of my 88 burb when I went to a carb setup. It's pretty easy

On the ecm there are two plugs is one use for running of the blazer like starting ac windows. I found wires that cross over into the wires on the lift side and some that go into the fire wall. Does the ecm box need to be left in.

Mine didn't...ecm only runs the engine I believe. Shouldn't have anything to do with the windows and such

You can pull out just the TBI wiring. I have done it as well as seen the results from others. There are only a couple of places which tie in to the truck functions.
Pay attention to the fuel pump wiring and you should be able to use some of it with the Fitech. But you definitely don't have the TBI tied to the windows or things like that.
Cruise control would be tied in to use VSS if you have a '90 or '91 with an electric speedometer. But you should be able to delete the ECM connections there.
Not exactly sure, but fairly confident...

Ok tomorrow I will pull out the firewall plug and see what I can get done. Does anyone have a shop manual for a 88 that could take a photo of the wire diagram

Go to the link in my signature. If '88 specifically isn't there, '87 or '89 should be very close, if not identical.

Good idea not to cut the harness. If you can get it out without doing so, and it's in decent shape, someone would probably buy it off of you, along with some/all the other TBI parts.

I removed a unit from an 89 once. Remove the ecm, the plugs will work through the firewall hole. Unbolt and unclamp as needed, and remove the firewall side fuse box panel. Viola, done.
